By downloading, accessing, or using Citron (the “Service”), you agree to these Terms & Conditions (“Terms”). If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1) Who we are

Labforty8 LLC (“Labforty8,” “we,” “us,” “our”) operates Citron, a recipe and cooking utility app enabling recipe import from images, audio, and URLs, plus related features.

2) Eligibility and accounts

• You must be able to form a binding contract and comply with these Terms. The Service is not directed to children under 13.
• You’re responsible for your account, device, credentials, and for all activity under your account. Keep your login secure and notify us of suspected unauthorized use.

3) License and acceptable use

We grant you a personal, limited, revocable, non‑transferable license to use the app for lawful, personal, non‑commercial purposes.

You agree not to:

• Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to derive source code.
• Bypass or interfere with security, rate limits, or access controls.
• Use the Service to infringe intellectual property, privacy, or other rights.
• Upload malicious code or use the Service to spam, harass, or engage in illegal activity.
• Scrape or copy the Service except as allowed by applicable law.

We may monitor misuse and suspend or terminate accounts for violations.

4) User content and recipe imports

“User Content” includes images, audio, text, URLs, notes, and other material you submit.

• You represent and warrant you have necessary rights to upload and process User Content and that it does not violate any law or third‑party rights.
• License you grant to us: You grant Labforty8 a non‑exclusive, worldwide license to host, process, transcribe, analyze, translate, modify (formatting only), display, and otherwise use User Content solely to operate and improve the Service (e.g., OCR/transcription, translation, search, backups, diagnostics). This license ends when your content is deleted from our systems, subject to reasonable backup/archival cycles and required legal retention.
• Recipe accuracy: Imports from images, audio, or URLs may be incomplete or inaccurate. You are responsible for reviewing and verifying results.

5) No medical, dietary, or safety advice

Citron is for informational purposes only. We do not provide medical, dietary, or nutrition advice and do not guarantee allergen, ingredient, or nutritional accuracy. Cooking involves risks (e.g., heat, sharp tools). Use your own judgment and follow all safety and food‑handling guidance.

6) Subscriptions, in‑app purchases, and free tier

• Some features require a paid subscription. Purchases and subscriptions are processed via Apple App Store or Google Play and managed by those stores’ terms. We do not control store billing, refunds, or cancellations.
• Auto‑renew: Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing cycle unless you cancel at least 24 hours before renewal in your App Store/Google Play account settings.
• Pricing and changes: Prices may change; changes take effect on the next renewal. If you do not agree to changes, cancel before renewal.
• Free tier and usage limits: We may offer a free plan with usage limits (for example, limited import actions). We may modify or discontinue free offerings or limits at any time.
• Taxes: Prices may be exclusive of taxes; applicable taxes are your responsibility.

7) Third‑party services

We use third‑party providers to operate the Service, including:

• Authentication/database: Supabase
• Analytics: PostHog
• Crash/error monitoring: Sentry
• Subscriptions: RevenueCat (integrating Apple/Google billing)
• Push notifications: APNs/FCM/Expo
• OCR/transcription: third‑party processing to extract text from images/audio

Your use of app store platforms and any linked third‑party sites/services is subject to their terms and policies. We are not responsible for third‑party services we do not control.

8) Intellectual property

• The Service, including software, design, trademarks, and content (excluding your User Content), is owned by Labforty8 or its licensors and protected by IP laws. No rights are granted except as expressly set out in these Terms.
• Feedback: If you submit ideas or suggestions, you grant us a perpetual, irrevocable, royalty‑free license to use them without restriction or compensation.

9) Privacy

Our use of personal information is described in our Privacy Policy. By using the Service, you acknowledge our privacy practices.

10) Push notifications and communications

• If you enable notifications, we may send you push notifications. Manage preferences in your device settings.
• We may send you service and transactional communications (e.g., updates, receipts). You can opt out of non‑essential marketing communications as described in our Privacy Policy.

11) DMCA/Copyright policy

If you believe content infringes your rights, contact: hi@citronapp.co with:

• Your contact details, a description of the work, the infringing material’s location, a statement of good‑faith belief, and a statement under penalty of perjury that you are authorized to act. Include your physical or electronic signature.

We may remove content and, where appropriate, terminate accounts of repeat infringers.

12) Changes to the Service

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service or any feature at any time, with or without notice, including for maintenance, updates, or security.

13) Disclaimers

• The Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties (express, implied, or statutory), including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non‑infringement.
• We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error‑free, or that defects will be corrected.

14) Limitation of liability

• To the fullest extent permitted by law, Labforty8 and its affiliates, officers, employees, and agents will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages; or any loss of profits, revenues, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising out of or relating to your use of or inability to use the Service.
• Our total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the Service is limited to the greater of: (a) the amount you paid to us for the Service in the 12 months before the event giving rise to liability, or (b) USD $50.
• Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those cases, the above limits apply to the maximum extent permitted by law.

15) Indemnification

You will defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Labforty8 and its affiliates, officers, employees, and agents from and against any claims, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from: (a) your User Content; (b) your use of the Service; (c) your violation of these Terms; or (d) your violation of any law or third‑party right.

16) Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or if we discontinue the Service. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases. Certain sections (e.g., IP, disclaimers, limitations, indemnity, governing law) survive termination.

17) Governing law and venue

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict‑of‑law rules. You consent to exclusive jurisdiction and venue in the state and federal courts located in Los Angeles County, California.

18) Export and sanctions

You represent you are not located in, under the control of, or a national/resident of any country or entity subject to U.S. sanctions. You agree to comply with all applicable export and sanctions laws.

19) App Store terms

If you downloaded the app from the Apple App Store or Google Play, you also agree to their terms and policies. Neither Apple nor Google is responsible for providing maintenance or support for the app.

20) Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post changes with an updated effective date. If you continue using the Service after changes take effect, you accept the updated Terms.
